Art at the Montagu Monuments
The Monuments are inspirational. During the course of the project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, there have beenvarious workshops and courses which have stimulated creativity amongst artists and creatives.
The Summer Outreach Course
The course was led by Lyn Hewitson artist in residence at Kettering Buccleuch Academy. It was an opportunity for the students to explore the monuments in depth and create an art work in response.
Life drawing
Students from Kettering Buccleuch Academy visited the monuments to practice their life drawing skills. Just like the grand masters of painting and sculpture did in Italy. Students and teacher said that it had improved their observation and practical skills.
Arts and Crafts
The Monuments also hosted visits from Rockingham Primary and Green Patch Allotments after school club “Free Rangers” the visit inspired many creative responses including, pottery, printing, photography, and collage to name a few.
